Dec. 14th, 2011 01:27 amThe light that filtered in through the dull, cloudy glass made the Programs stop for a moment, curiosity and trepidation evident on both of their faces just before they crept closer, and Alan had to laugh to himself. Of the two of them, Clu seemed the most outgoing, rushing toward the doors of the arcade and reaching for them with excitement just underneath the timid expression while Tron hung back, conspicuously but obliviously close to his creator as if he instinctively sought out his pressence for reassurance and comfort.
And then, with a glance back at the older man for approval, Flynn's Program grinned broadly, flinging the doors to the arcade open wide and stepping out into the light of the Spring California sun.
The men both recoiled momentarily, shielding their eyes from the light. Tron took a step back as if tempted to retreat for a moment, and Alan's hand was on his back, pressing reassuringly, leading him outside. It was all it took to coerce him out, following after Clu as Alan stepped out after them both, moving in front of them and turning to watch as, a single moment later, they pulled their hands away from their eyes, squinting out at the orb of light in the sky.
The second he saw their expressions shift from timid curiosity to deep, expressive awe, he knew no matter how the rest of their trip went, it wouldn't hold a candle to that first glimpse of his world. And he couldn't have been happier, to be the one to have shown it to them, his own cherished sons in nature, even if not in blood.
